AFEA SESSION CALL FOR PAPERS

99th Annual Conference | June 29 - July 3, 2024 in Seattle, Washington

Africa Finance and Economic Association (AFEA) is excited to announce that a call for papers for the AFEA session(s) at the WEAI 99th Annual Conference is now open. The meeting will be held in Seattle, Washington on June 29 – July 3. AFEA is planning to sponsor two sessions. AFEA invites relevant and high-quality papers covering a wide array of sustainable development issues such as Agri-food, Manufacturing, Health, Education, Trade, Infrastructure, Youth Employment and Unemployment Challenges, Digitalization, Climate Change, Environmental Management, Cybersecurity, Racial Economic Inequality, COVID-19 pandemic, and Political Economy. 

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS AND DATES 

For any proposal or full paper to be considered, provide the following:  

  1. A title of the proposal/paper.
  2. A concise abstract of no more than 250-word summarizing the paper’s objective, methodology, (if empirical paper; data and sampling period), key preliminary results, and contribution to literature. 
  3. Primary & two secondary JEL classification codes that best describe the paper  
  4. Contact information (especially emails) and affiliations of ALL contributing authors.

The last date for proposal/paper submission is January 20, 2024. Early submissions are highly encouraged. Authors of accepted papers will be notified by January 30, 2024, while the deadline for submitting the full paper is April 1, 2024.  
Conference attendees must register with the WEAI to attend the WEAI annual meeting by paying the WEAI conference registration fees. Therefore, all attendees of AFEA sessions are expected to pay the WEAI conference registration fees, which will entitle you to a name badge, benefit from a hotel discount, and use of the book exhibit. WEAI registration is opened. 

 IMPORTANT INFORMATION: 
Proposal acceptance does not guarantee presentation at the conference 
Only authors who register and submit full papers by April 1, 2024 on the WEAI conference site, will be scheduled for presentation.  

Membership in AFEA is a pre-condition for paper submission and participation in all AFEA and WEAI sessions. Authors of accepted proposals MUST pay AFEA membership fee online at membership by April 1.
