Dr. Steven Bello specializes in Economics and Finance. He holds a Doctor of Business Administration (ABD) from the ACBSP Accredited School of Business and Management, California Southern University, and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Economics from AACSB Accredited Economics and Management School, Wuhan University.
Since 2005, Dr. Bello has taught Economics and Business courses at various institutions in several countries, including the United States, Canada, and China. He taught at the Wuhan University of Technology, University of Phoenix, Meritus University, Austin Community College, and Ambrose University. At Louisiana Christian University, Dr. Bello teaches Principles of several economics and finance courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Dr. Bello’s commitment to academic excellence is not limited to teaching and personal research. He has made notable contributions to the academic community as a reviewer for esteemed journals such as the Journal of Applied Economics, Economic Letters, and the Contemporary Economic Journal. His insightful reviews have contributed to maintaining the high standards of these publications, further enhancing his professional reputation.
Professor Bello’s research interests include small business development, digital economy and income inequality, labor and human capital development, and de-dollarization – the US emerging economic challenge. Currently, he is investigating the persistence of the high rate of small business failures within the first 10 – 15 years of operation. While Louisiana State is the case study, the research outcome is generalizable given the similar trend across the United States.
In addition to his academic career, Dr. Bello has acquired significant managerial experience from academic and non-academic institutions. At the University of Alberta, Dr. Bello served for nine years, six of which he was the Assistant Director for Finance, and administered about $50 million in operating, project, and research funds for the CIUS Institute, University of Alberta.
